What Is YouTube Content ID?

YouTube Content ID is an automated matching system that compares uploaded videos against reference audio supplied by approved music rights partners. When an eligible match is found, the rights policy attached to that recording can allow the use to generate revenue instead of letting it remain unidentified.

Vaytone delivers approved original recordings to Content ID and supported social music systems, monitors rights activity, helps resolve claim disputes, and includes the resulting eligible earnings in monthly reports. Content ID does not transfer your copyright to Vaytone and is not a replacement for formal copyright registration.

🔎 Identify Eligible Uses

Reference matching helps detect videos and social content that use an approved original recording.

⚖️ Manage Claim Disputes

Vaytone reviews objections and supports the resolution of disputes involving delivered recordings.

📈 Report Social Earnings

Eligible revenue from supported networks is organized into Vaytone’s monthly reporting cycle.

A professional home for your music on YouTube

Official Artist Channel Support in Both Plans

Vaytone can submit an Official Artist Channel request for artists using either the free or $14.99 release plan. An approved OAC combines eligible artist content into an official YouTube destination and displays the music-note artist badge.

Official Artist Channel approval is controlled by YouTube and requires the artist and channel to meet YouTube’s current eligibility rules. Vaytone submits and supports the request, but final approval and processing time remain with YouTube.

After the relevant setup is active, artists can view applicable YouTube activity within their YouTube environment, while Vaytone handles delivered-rights disputes and includes eligible earnings in monthly reports.

Official Artist Channel

  • Available with both Vaytone plans
  • Submitted for eligible artists
  • Music-note badge after YouTube approval
  • Final approval controlled by YouTube

Which Music Is Eligible for Content ID?

Content ID requires clean, exclusive ownership. Every submission is subject to Vaytone’s final review.

✓ Eligible Starting Point

  • Completely original recording
  • Exclusive rights controlled by the submitting artist or rights holder
  • Accurate ownership and metadata information
  • Approved after Vaytone’s rights review

× Currently Not Accepted

  • Cover songs
  • Remixes
  • Recordings without exclusive rights
  • Submissions that do not pass Vaytone’s final review

Detection and monetization depend on platform matching, policy, territory, and the nature of each use. Not every appearance of a recording will necessarily produce a claim or revenue.
